healIf you’re sick, chances are you might drop by the clinic or in more severe cases, the hospital. However wouldn’t it be better and easier if you could get a doctor to swing by your house or your location? Granted home visits aren’t anything new, but a startup called Heal wants to make it a lot more convenient and widespread.

Founded by Dr. Renee Dua, the idea behind Heal is simple – basically it will try to search for a qualified doctor around you and bring them over to your location in under an hour, which in some cases might be faster than waiting around in a clinic or a hospital. The service launched in Los Angeles late last year and is opening its doors in San Francisco.

To get started, users will need to download the Heal app (which is iOS-only at the moment, Android version coming soon). Doctors will be available between 8am-8pm, seven days a week. As for pricing, a single visit will cost $99 which is significantly more than if you were to take yourself to a doctor, but we suppose if you don’t feel up to driving yourself, then this is the price you have to pay for the convenience.

To be fair, Heal is not the first of its kind as there have been other similar startups in the past, so while it is an interesting idea, it will have to compete with other similar services that might be operating in the area as well.
