Sprint has announced a new plans that will appeal to people who travel frequently outside the United States. The new plan will provide users with free international 2G roaming, unlimited texting as well as calls that cost 20 cents per minute when initiated from countries in Latin America, Europe, South Korea and even Japan.

Sprint isn’t the first carrier in the country to offer 2G data roaming for free outside U.S. borders. Infact T-Mobile launched a very similar plan almost 18 months back so one can say that Sprint is actually late to the party.

Those who want 3G speeds while they’re traveling can buy day passes. $15 for 100MB in a single day, $25 for 200MB in one week and $50 for 500MB in 14 days. Users don’t have to worry about overage charges because once their bucket expires they will automatically be sent back to 2G speeds.

Supported countries include Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Germany, Guatemala, Japan, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Russia, South Korea, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

Aside from all this Sprint will also allow users to use Wi-Fi Calling at no additional charge to call a U.S., U.S. Virgin Islands or Puerto Rico phone number over a wireless network, though the feature only works with select iPhone and Android devices.

The plan, called International Value Roaming, can be added to your existing Sprint plan for no charge at all.
