AT&T has quietly initiated the sale of LG Escape2 (yes, there is no white space between Escape and 2) for a no-contract price of $179.99. The device has not seen any official launch and has been sent directly on the sale platform. In terms of design and specs, the Escape2 looks somewhat similar to the LG Spirit that was launched two months ago.

The Escape2 in every way is a mid-range device and it also has many similarities of the G3 than the G4. No, you will neither get genuine nor the faux leather in this one, it is crafted in plastic. It does bear LG’s hallmark traits such as curved design and in-cell display for slimmer panels.

Let’s talk about the hardware, the device features 4.7-inch of display with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels, and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 SoC. There is 2GB of RAM on-board, 8GB of expandable internal storage and 2,100 mAh battery. It sports an 8-megapixel rear camera along with a 1-megapixel (VGA) front camera. In terms of software, it runs Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box along with LG’s default features such as Knock Code and Gesture Shot. It also features the popular Glance View, which enables users to look at the notifications just by doing a half swipe.

So, this brings us to where we started, AT&T “silently” listing the device. We assume that the company wanted to avoid clashes with the soon approaching LG G4. Listing a major flagship neck-to-neck with a mid-ranger won’t be a smart move.

Moreover, AT&T is offering the LG Escape 2 for 99 cents with a two year contract. The AT&T Next payment options enable customers to buy the smartphone for $0 on 20 monthly payments of $9 each with AT&T Next for 12 months, 24 payments of $7.50 each for 18 months, or 30 monthly payments of $6 for 24 months.
