instagram desktop searchInstagram was designed to be browsed mainly on mobile devices. However sometimes in a pinch you can always browse the desktop version, although admittedly there are some features that are missing from the desktop version which can only be found on the mobile version, like searching, for example.

The good news is that Instagram has decided to make some changes and has recently introduced the search feature to its desktop website. Users of the service can now search for users on Instagram’s website, hashtags, and even places, making the desktop version of Instagram a lot more functional than before.

Unfortunately it seems that uploading photos from the desktop is still a feature that Instagram has not allowed yet, which is a little odd since we’re sure many professional photographers would love an easier way to upload photos edited from their computer and use Instagram as a portfolio (which some already do), but perhaps that might be a feature reserved for the future.

The addition of the search feature is one of the few changes that Instagram has been making to its desktop site in the past few months. In any case for those who are interested in checking out the new feature, just pop on over to its website to take it for a spin.
