asus freesync monitorIf you’re a hardcore gamer, chances are you are aware that there is a difference in technology used in regular monitors and those designed for gaming. One of those main differences would be in its response time where gaming monitors typically feature faster response times. That being said if you’re after a gaming monitor, ASUS has you covered.

The company has recently announced a new monitor in the form of the ASUS MG278Q and one of its key features is the fact that it comes with AMD’s FreeSync technology and will feature a 144Hz refresh rate. For those who are unfamiliar with FreeSync, basically what it does is it synchronizes the refresh rate of monitors to prevent as little screen tearing as possible.

This should result in a smooth viewing experience. According to ASUS, “ASUS MG278Q is specially-designed for marathon gaming sessions. It features ASUS Ultra-Low Blue Light technology reduces blue light emission by up to 70%, and has four different blue light filter settings that are easily accessed through a new onscreen display (OSD) menu. Flicker-Free technology also helps reduce onscreen flicker for a more comfortable gaming experience.”

It will come with a number of ports built into it, like a DisplayPort 1.2, two HDMI ports, dual-link DVI, an earphone jack, and USB 3.0 ports, and a another USB 3.0 port used for upstream. According to ASUS, the monitor will be available for purchase come September but pricing was not mentioned, but given its specs chances are it won’t come cheap.
