airconsole2There are games out there that have been designed with gaming controllers in mind, versus the keyboard and mouse setup. For example arcade games like Street Fighter are a good example of how gaming controllers probably work out better than a keyboard and mouse combo, and this is what AirConsole is trying to do.

AirConsole is a recently launched browser-based gaming platform. The idea is that it allows gamers to play games in their browser on their computers, but instead of using a keyboard and mouse, it will use the person’s smartphone to double up as a controller instead. Chances are many of us already have smartphones, so you won’t need to purchase additional equipment.

All gamers need to do is navigate on over to AirConsole’s website on their smartphone and computer, enter the code on their smartphone and voila, it will then link the controller on your smartphone to the game on your computer’s browser. There aren’t that many games available on AirConsole at the moment, but the developers are running a competition in which they invite other developers to port titles onto it.

As it stands, there are games like TicTac Boom, Hit Parade, and PolyRacer, just to name a few. Best of all, it seems that gamers can even play local multiplayer sessions following the method we mentioned above. It’s a pretty cool idea and if you’d like to check it out, hit up AirConsole’s website for the details.
