Cortana, the virtual assistant from Microsoft, looks all set to be even more equipped in the near future with the ability to send SMS (Short Message Service) as well as inform you whenever you have a missed call, now how about that for smart? Windows 10 build 10565 has just rolled out for fast and slow ring users, where the ability to send an SMS right from your desktop via Cortana is definitely a nice option to have. Of course, how many people actually use SMS these days in the era of instant messaging apps such as WeChat, Line, WhatsApp, and even Facebook Messenger?

Still, something is better than nothing, and as you can see in the video above, the entire experience is certainly seamless in nature. Of course, you can alternate between using your voice or simply typing out the message, depending on the situation at hand. You will also need to have a Windows Phone device tethered to the PC before this functionality works, of course.

Do bear in mind that folks who are not rocking to the latest build of Windows 10 will need to sign up as a Windows Insider first, prior to being given the privilege of downloading the latest preview build. It must also be said that preview builds tend to come with stability issues among others, so if reliability is what you are concerned with, it might be best to avoid such a route.
