Last week WhatsApp pushed out an update to iOS devices. The update included new features such as rich link previews, which basically gives you a thumbnail and also includes the title of the website that you’re about to visit. The good news is that it looks like WhatsApp for Android is getting those features too.

WhatsApp for Android has recently been updated and has been bumped to version 2.12.367. If your WhatsApp is already on that version, then you won’t have to do anything. If your WhatsApp version is older, then you will want to head on over to the Google Play Store for the update/download.

Apart from the rich link previews, the update also introduces starred messages. This is a feature that has been available for iOS devices for a while. These are messages that you can “star” in order to keep them and go back to them at a later time. The update will also bring about support for Android direct share (which will require Android 6.0 or above).

This lets users choose a specific chat when sharing content from other apps. Some of these features were already available earlier this month in the beta for Android, but it looks like it has finally rolled out to the masses.
