It’s great that Apple didn’t decide to make developers wait for tapping into the 3D Touch technology that it introduced with iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. The 3D Touch technology enables the display to ascertain how much force has been applied in the tap and then the device decides to respond accordingly. This enables new input methods and developers have been making full use of the opportunity this affords them.

Apple’s native apps on the iPhone have already been updated for the 3D Touch technology and to support the new gestures like Peek and Pop that it enables. Developers have been able to tap into this technology from the get go and many have already updated their apps.

Joining this list today is WhatsApp which has just today sent out an updated version for iOS. This updated version brings rich preview for links, support for 3D Touch as well as Peek and Pop chats and other nominal improvements.

This update, version 2.12.11, provides a rich preview when a link is shared or received in a conversation. When sending a link users can decide if they want to include a rich preview.

With support for 3D Touch users can quickly Peek and Pop chats. A redesigned Settings tab is included in version 2.12.11 as well, and users can now view all of their starred messages across all of their chats in the Settings menu under Starred Messages.
