mark-zuckerbergEarlier this month, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that he had become a father to a beautiful baby girl. Just like other tech CEOs like Bill Gates, Zuckerberg wants to create a future for his daughter to live in, so much so that he will be giving away a total of $45 billion to various charities over time.

However it seems that a new Facebook hoax has hit the internet where it suggested that the $45 billion will actually be given to Facebook users. The hoax claims that Zuckerberg will be selecting 1,000 random people who share a message on Facebook and tag at least five of their friends, and if they are selected they will be receiving $4.5 million each.

According to the message, “Mark Zuckerberg has announced that he is giving away $45 billion of Facebook stock. What you may not have heard is that he plans to give 10% of it away to people like YOU and ME! All you have to do is copy and paste this message into a post IMMEDIATELY and tag 5-10 of your friends. At midnight PST, Facebook will search through the day’s posts and award 1000 people with $4.5 million EACH as a way of saying thank you for making Facebook such a powerful vehicle for connection and philanthropy.”

Safe to say that this is obviously very untrue so if you do see such a message, let’s try and put an end to it by not sharing it!
