samsung-EV-NX500_007_Right-Angle_BrThere have been rumors that Samsung could be considering exiting the digital camera market. So far the company has not explicitly confirmed their decision, but recently there have been moves made by the company that seems to suggest that it could be true. Recently the company had pulled out of the German market, and now it looks like the UK market is next.

This was confirmed by Samsung to the folks at Pocket-lint in which the spokesperson said, “We quickly adapt to market needs and demands. In the UK, we have seen a gradual and sustained decline in demand for standalone digital cameras and camcorders and related accessories. For this reason, we have taken the decision to phase out the sales and marketing of these products. This is a local decision, based on local market conditions.”

Interestingly enough despite the mounting evidence that Samsung certainly looks like they might exit the digital camera market, it wasn’t too long ago that there were rumors that Samsung might have some kind of major camera announcement that they will be making at CES 2016. Like we said at that time, it would be odd for Samsung to announce their exit at such a big event, but either way we guess we’ll just have to wait and see how this one plays out.
