Acer_Iconia-One-8_B1-850_blue_face up[CES 2016] Every saga has a beginning….sorry, I got carried away for a moment there with all of the Star Wars mania that is going on. While many of us are no strangers when it comes to mobile devices, this does not mean that everyone knows how to operate a tablet – let alone seen one. Acer figured out that there is a market for such a group of people, which is why the Taiwanese firm decided to come up with the Acer Iconia One 8 tablet, also known as the B1-850.

This is an 8-inch media tablet that will target families, children or novice users – basically, beginners in the world of tablets. It will run on the Android mobile operating system, and packs enough punch underneath the hood to be a decent performer when it comes to web browsing, video playback and casual gaming, where it boasts of the Acer the Kids Center app for a child-friendly interface and parental controls.

Hardware specifications of the Iconia One 8 include an 8-inch HD IPS display with 10-point multi-touch, Android 5.1 Lollipop, a 9 hour battery life, a MediaTek quad-core processor, a 5MP shooter at the back, a 2MP camera in front, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory that can be further expanded via a microSD memory card slot.

Expect the Acer Iconia One 8 to arrive later next month for $99.99 a pop, while other regions will follow with prices starting at €129 in Europe.
