downloads-vs-revenue-940x335If there is one thing that Apple’s most diehard fans have to concede, it would be that Android has a much larger market share. This is thanks to the fact that there is so much variety to choose from in terms of design and specs, and let’s not forget price, something which Apple is finding it hard to compete with.

However if there is one thing that Apple’s mobile platform is doing that outperforms Android, it would be app revenue. According to the latest report from App Annie (subscription required; via Cult of Android), it has been revealed that iOS apps are leading the way in terms of revenue generated.

The numbers have suggested that in 2015, iOS apps made nearly twice as much compared to Android apps. However this is where it gets interesting. The flipside here is that while iOS apps lead nearly double in app revenue, the reverse is also true when it comes to the number of apps downloaded, in which Android is seeing double that of iOS.

Then again given that Android’s global market share is much higher than that of iOS, we suppose that’s to be expected. Based on this, it’s hardly surprising to see why some developers might choose to develop for iOS first since the numbers do show that it is the more lucrative platform.
