geode-cakeJust when you thought that wedding cakes should all more or less look the same, with plenty of icing at the top, a happy couple figure making an appearance, here comes Rachael Teufel’s take. Rachael happens to be the owner of Intricate Icings Cake Design, and she has come up with this unique looking amethyst geode wedding cake that was not meant for an actual wedding, but rather, for a recent industry event that celebrated the launch of an event planning company known as First Look Events as well as the wedding venue Moss Denver.

This is certainly one cake that looks absolutely gorgeous, you might even think that it would be a pity to sink your teeth into it. The geode design itself comprises of a combination of granulated sugar, rock candy, multi-colored modeling chocolate, while the cake will arrive covered in white fondant. Rachael claims that the entire cake took approximately 16 hands-on hours to create, and this does not include the additional hours of planning to get it conceptualized before that.

Rachael shared, “I was given several pieces of inspiration to draw ideas from, including actual geodes, a beautiful illustration and a variety of table decor items like plates, chargers and geometric floral arrangements. I knew I wanted to create a show-stopping cake and use the geode as the focal point, creating an awe-inspiring visual experience for the guests.” Well, she certainly succeeded, didn’t she?
