Journey’s soundtrack has to be one of the best soundtracks made for video games. So much so that its composer Austin Wintory has teamed up with the Fifth House Ensemble to turn the entire soundtrack into a live concert. This isn’t exactly “new”, but what they are doing different is by making the concert interactive.

The idea here is that select players will be chosen to play the game live on stage, and the Ensemble will then play an original arrangement of the soundtrack that is based on the player’s actions, meaning that what music is played is dictated by what the player does, which is kind of like how the game is except this is all done live in front of an audience.

So who gets to play the game then? According to the Kickstarter project, each performance will feature live players that are selected through competitions held in advance. The first will be held in Chicago by Killer Queen Mercury Squad, and another will be held at MAGFest, Boca Raton, and Springfield, so those interested in participating will have to keep an eye out for it.

If this sounds like something you might be interested in watching the concert, it will begin on the 20th of February and will end on the 16th of April with a total of four showings. If you’d like to lend your support, head on over to its Kickstarter page for the details.
