parrot_disco_1[CES 2016] A lot of drones that we have been seeing recently are of the quadcopter variety, and while there’s really nothing wrong with that, the folks at Parrot have recently taken the wraps off their latest drone called the Disco. As you can see from the photos, the Parrot Disco definitely does not look like your typical commercial drone.

In fact, if anything, it kind of reminds us of the shape of the B-52 Stealth Bomber which we wonder if it was done on purpose. Regardless it is a pretty sleek looking piece of hardware, and it seems that it is more than just about its looks as well. According to Parrot, the Disco is capable of speeds up to 50mph making it pretty damn fast.

parrot_disco_2It’s got a rotor on its tail and a camera on its nose, which will be able to capture Full HD 1080p video. The video will not be shaky either thanks to Parrot including a digital stabilizer to help create more steady footage. The drone will also come equipped with a handful of sensors to help keep it stable as well, such as a camera on the bottom and ultrasound, which hopefully will result in even more stable footage.

Unfortunately pricing was not revealed but Parrot claims that this drone isn’t necessarily aimed at enthusiasts, so hopefully at the very least it will sport a more friendly price tag. However it is expected to be available this year so do keep an eye out for it.
