Pokémon fans will be well aware that February 27th is Pokémon Day and this year Nintendo is doing something special to celebrate the 20th anniversary of this popular franchise. It’s releasing a special bundle of the 3DS to commemorate this occasion, the bundle brings pre-installed copies of Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue.

The bundle also features two cover plates with artwork from the original titles as well as a download code for an exclusive Home Menu theme, so players can get the Pokémon look and feel on their console too. Nintendo will also have Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow available for digital download from the 3DS eShop starting February 27th.

The festivities don’t end here. Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have more up their sleeve, some of the best-selling Pokémon amiibo will be re-released, particularly Greninja, Lucario, Charizard, and Jigglypuff. The re-released amiibo will only be available through selected retailers on Pokémon Day.

Pokémon fans have much to look forward to in 2016 as Nintendo is also going to release 12 full-length Pokémon films on Google Play, iTunes and Amazon over the next few months. This includes digitally remastered versions of popular movies from the franchise like Pokémon: The First Movie, Pokémon the Movie 2000 and Pokémon 3: The Movie and many more.
