The world’s largest social network is 12 years old today and it has certainly come a very long way from Mark Zuckerberg’s Harvard dorm room. It easily leads all other social networks with more than 1.5 billion users across the globe and some of its other properties like WhatsApp have also hit that major billion milestone. To celebrate its 12th birthday, Facebook has introduced something it called “Friends Day” videos.

These videos aren’t really that different from the “year in review” videos that pop up on Facebook towards the end of the year to recap highlights from the user’s year on the social network. The only difference is that they don’t recap the past year instead they highlight “special moments with your friends,” says Facebook.

The videos have now started showing on top of users’ News Feed, they can review them and even edit to take out some of their interactions before deciding to share them with the friends on Facebook. All videos are private unless they’re reviewed by the user first and then shared so you don’t have to worry about Facebook posting something without your permission.

Facebook now looks towards the decades to come with new and exciting programs to branch out into many other fields. It has already acquired a variety of different properties that even include a virtual reality company which is coming out with its first consumer VR headset in the very near future.
