little-ripperWhen you live in a country like Australia where there are so many different kinds of animals that can kill you in the blink of an eye, it would be best to ensure that the authorities, too, do their bit to ensure the safety of its people. Those who love swimming and surfing are sometimes attacked by sharks, being mistaken for prey, but here is a drone that might help out – the Little Ripper drone, which is a shark hunting drone that might just change the way patrols and rescue searches are run.

This high tech drone is the brainchild of Australia’s first astronaut and a philanthropist, where he thought of it after a friend was killed by a shark. Meant to patrol New South Wales’s coast, the Little Ripper drone will keep a keen eye out for great whites and other sharks that are prone to having humans as prey. I don’t suppose it won’t look out for foolish folks who drag a beached shark out of the water just to snap a selfie with it, right?

Each of the Little Rippers will cost a whopping $250,000, where trials will kick off at the state’s shark-infested north coast in a matter of days.
