sony ssdWhen you think about SSD brands, maybe brands like Samsung or Intel come to mind. Now if you’re looking for more options, you might be interested to learn that Sony could soon be a brand worth your consideration as the company has recently taken the wraps off its latest SSD  in the form of the SLW-M series.

According to TechPowerup, it seems that Sony has actually been producing SSDs for the Japanese market prior to this, so essentially the release of the SLW-M series means that Sony is now venturing into the international market. The end result is an SSD with 2.5-inch drives that support SATA 3.0.

It will be offered in two different sizes at launch – 240GB and 480GB, and will using Toshiba’s A19 TLC NAND flash. We’re not sure if smaller or larger storage options will be available in the future, but for now these are the only two sizes that you can choose from. They will feature read and write speeds of 560MB/s and 530MB/s respectively, and will also come with a Phison S10 series controller.

It will also come bundled with cloning software in the form of the Acronis True Image 2015 HD, and will also sport Sony’s own SSD ToolBox that will help monitor the health of your drive. No word on pricing or availability just yet.
