tmo_signSay you’re out and about the city, which means that regardless of your carrier, you should get pretty good reception. However step inside a building and it might be a completely different story. Depending on your carrier and location, sometimes you might get great reception, but more often than not your reception leaves a lot to be desired.

The good news for T-Mobile customers is that the carrier has recently announced that they have purchased some low-frequency spectrum in the form of the 700MHz band. What this means is that these low-frequency signals have the ability to penetrate obstacles like walls, thus ensuring that you will still have a relatively good reception even while indoors.

During the carrier’s Wednesday earnings call, T-Mobile’s CEO John Legere opined that such features helped them achieve high customer satisfaction, which in turn led to less customers leaving T-Mobile for the competition. He was quoted as saying, “It’s seems obvious, but this is one of the things that’s driving up satisfaction and driving down churn.”

However at the same time, T-Mobile has admitted that this isn’t quite enough but they are hoping to improve on it in the future, like in the upcoming auction held by the government in which some spectrum taken from TV broadcasters will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
