Most of us have probably experienced an instance when a car or a machine breaks down. The reasons for breaking down are due to many numerous things and instances out of our control, but thanks to a software called DigitalClone, it seems that it allows users to detect which parts might break and when it might break, thus allowing them to replace it ahead of time.

How does it work? Basically it works by digitally cloning the machine’s internal hardware, and by understanding how the machine works, the software will be able to detect which parts might wear out first. For example if it were to clone your car parts and it detects that the fan belt on your car is starting to wear thin, it might tell you that you should consider replacing it soon lest you end up with a broken down car by the side of the highway.

The DigitalClone software isn’t new and it actually went on sale in 2013. So far it has been used by NASA and the US military to help ensure that their machines and combat vehicles don’t break down at inopportune moments. Of course we reckon it might be a while, if ever, before the DigitalClone becomes commercially available to regular folks looking to keep their household gadgets or appliances in tip top condition.

However it is still a good idea and if it leads to fewer broken down vehicles, why not?
