Unless you’ve actually read the comics, chances are what we’ve seen in the movies about the Black Widow character portrayed by Scarlett Johansson left us with a lot of questions. Sure, there was a bit of flashbacks in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but we’re sure that many moviegoers would love to know more about the assassin-cum-super hero, right?The good news is that if you’re too lazy to read up on Black Widow in the comics, you might be able to expect a movie starring the character in the future. According to a recent Deadline interview with Marvel Studio’s president Kevin Feige, he has revealed that they are very interested in giving Black Widow her own movie.
According to Feige, “Of the characters that you’ve just mentioned I would say certainly the one creatively and emotionally that we are most committing to doing is Black Widow. We think she’s an amazing character. We think Scarlett Johansson’s portrayal of her is amazing. She’s a lead Avenger and has amazing stories in her own right to tell that we think would be fun to turn into a stand-alone franchise.”
Johansson has in the past also expressed her interest in having her own movie, with her fellow actors such as Robert Downey Jr. and Clark Gregg voicing their support. That being said with so many Marvel movies planned for the next few years, we reckon it might be a while before the Black Widow movie will actually happen.
