instagram_stories_chromeA couple of weeks ago, Instagram launched a new feature called Stories. This was meant to be a competitor to Snapchat’s Stories, but so far initial reviews and feedback have found that more people seem to like this better than Snapchat’s. That being said, the feature can only be viewed in the Instagram app.

Now we know Instagram has a web presence and you can check out photos and watch videos on the web version of Instagram, except for its new Stories feature. Perhaps Instagram will add it to the web at a later date, but in the meantime users might be interested to learn that there is a Chrome extension that will let you do that.

Created by Alec Garcia, the Chrome IG Story extension pretty much does what it says it will. The UI is obviously a bit different from that of your phone, but at the end of the day it gets the job done. However as pointed out by Engadget, Instagram has historically not been too kind to apps and plug-ins that uses its API, so there is a good chance this extension could be taken down/disabled soon.

However in the meantime if you’d like to check it out, head on over to the Chrome Web Store for the download.
