We’ve all received shipments before where the box might have encountered some damage along the way, although hopefully in your cases, its contents have not. Unfortunately in some cases, some deliveries do get handled a bit rougher compared to others, which is why a bike company from the Netherlands has come up with an ingenious solution.

The company, VanMoof, has figured out that delivery companies tend to be more gentle in their handling of certain packages, such as that of electronics, especially big-screen TVs. This is why the company has decided to switch up the way that they package their products, by stuffing their bikes into boxes with an image of a TV slapped on the side.

The idea is that with an image of a TV on the side, delivery companies will be more gentle with their handling. According to VanMoof’s creative director Bex Rad, her post on Medium reads, “Earlier this year our co-founder Ties had a flash of genius. Our boxes are about the same size as a (really really reaaaally massive) flatscreen television. Flatscreen televisions always arrive in perfect condition. What if we just printed a flatscreen television on the side of our boxes? And just like that, shipping damage to our bikes dropped by 70–80%.”

In an ideal world delivery companies should handle all packages with care, but if they don’t, we guess this could be an alternative, or at least until they catch on.
