android-rebootFor some reason, the default build of Android does not give users the option of rebooting their phones. Instead users only had the option of turning it off. This is despite the fact that for years, OEMs such as Samsung and LG have given users the reboot option, so we know that it is possible, Google just seems to refuse to implement it.

However that could change. According to Android Police, they have received a tip and a screenshot that shows a restart option on Android. They note that this is on Android 7.1 Nougat so it is possible that it is not present on Android 7.0. It also seems to be suggested that it will make its debut on the upcoming Pixel phones.

Once again we can’t say for sure if this is a Pixel-exclusive feature, like how the Pixel launcher will be exclusive to the phones, or if this is simply because the Pixel phones are being launched with Android 7.1 by default. In any case we guess it doesn’t make sense for Google to exclude the feature from non-Pixel handsets, unless they’re trying to work towards making Android more exclusive to themselves.

In any case we guess we’ll find out soon enough when the Pixel phones are officially launched on the 4th of October, so be sure to check back with us then for the details.
