ios-10-release-dateEarlier this week it was reported that some users were encountering issues when using the new Lightning EarPods. Basically the EarPods function normally, but after a few minutes of being plugged in, the remote dongle stops working which means that users will need to plug and replug their EarPods to get it working again.

The good news is that Apple has wasted no time in releasing a fix. iOS 10.0.2 has since been released and iPhone users with the EarPods connectivity problem can go ahead and download it. Even if you’re not affected by this issue, it should be noted that iOS 10.0.2 comes with a host of other fixes as well, such as a variety of minor bugs related to the Photos app, as well as app extensions, so you should probably download it anyway just to be safe.

It is good that Apple has worked quickly to resolve the issues that users have had with the Lightning EarPods. With the company ditching the traditional headphone jack, we guess the onus is on them to try and convince customers that connecting via Lightning (or wirelessly) is the way to go, and having a buggy connection is obviously not a great way to sell the idea to customers.
