We’re not sure why Nintendo is only choosing to reveal more information about the Switch console in 2017, especially after they kind of teased us with a preview trailer. If anything this has generated way more questions and has led to all kinds of speculation instead of answering the questions gamers had before.
That being said, if you thought that was all there was to the Switch, Nintendo’s President Tatsumi Kimishima has reassured gamers that there is more coming. Speaking to Bloomberg Kimishima revealed that there will be more hardware and accessories for the Switch that will be revealed soon, and that what we saw was everything. “By no means was that everything,” he told the publication.
Kimishima also expressed his own surprise when Nintendo’s stock price dropped by 6% following the reveal. “To tell you the truth, I was surprised. I don’t understand why.” We were also a bit surprised considering that the feedback following the reveal was largely positive, with some understandable reservations here and there.
In any case we guess Nintendo really has no choice but to release the console in order to see if the fears of investors were justified, or if what they have on their hands is another hit console like the Wii. The company has since scheduled an official Nintendo Switch presentation for the 12th of January, 2017.
