nintendo-switchAccording to a rumor from last week, it was rumored that the Nintendo Switch would have a “standard” cartridge storage size of 16GB. While it is obvious that games will be stored in their respective cartridges, onboard storage is also a given, but the question is how much storage will the Switch offer?

According to a recent tweet by journalist Emily Rogers, she seemed to suggest that the Switch will come with 32GB of internal storage. There is no mention as to whether or not the Switch will support additional storage from microSD/SD cards, or why there is a need for internal storage (apart from running the operating system).

For example is internal storage needed because we can expect to download games in the future? Or is it because the Switch will also be able to support other files like movies and photos, where we can use the Switch not just to game, but to watch videos on the go? Also we should say that 32GB is tiny compared to the 500GB storage sizes offered by Sony and Microsoft on the PS4 and Xbox One respectively.

In any case these are questions that we don’t have the answer to, but hopefully Nintendo will be able to answer them on the 12th of January.
