Earlier this year at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Sony introduced a new product called the Xperia Ear. The company said that this was a “smart ear” accessory and that it’s capable of doing much more than what an ordinary Bluetooth earpiece can. The Xperia Ear has only just been released in Japan and Sony has now confirmed the pricing and release date for the Xperia Ear that’s headed to the United States next month.

The Xperia Ear basically puts an AI Assistant in your ear. It can be controlled using voice commands to perform internet searches, dictation, and navigation. The earpiece can also provide location and time-based alerts, prompts for missed calls, news, and general notifications.

Sony has said that the Xperia Ear is going to provide 3.5 hours of battery life on a single charge. Even though the company thinks that’s going to be enough for most users, some might say that it’s a bit too low, but then again, it’s not like people will be using the earpiece all the time.

Sony Xperia Ear is only going to be released in black and it’s going to cost $199.99. The company is going to release the earpiece in the United States on December 13th.
