A couple of weeks ago, it was announced that you could finally get your hands on prescription Snapchat Spectacles. Given that not everyone has 20/20 vision, this was no doubt great news for those who need powered lenses for their daily lives. This was courtesy of Rochester Optical who was selling them starting at $99.
The good news is that if $99 is a bit too expensive for your liking, not to worry as the folks at GlassesUSA have announced that you’ll be able to get prescription lenses for your Snapchat Spectacles starting at $29, a good $70 cheaper than what Rochester Optical is currently offering customers.
However in both cases, you will be required to own a pair of Spectacles first which you will be able to find if you follow Snapchat’s vending machine announcements. Alternatively you could try your luck on eBay but chances are you’ll end up paying quite a premium on those. However there is a pop-up store in New York City so if you are in the area, why not?
For those unfamiliar with Spectacles, these are basically smartglasses that can be used to capture videos via its camera, similar to that of the Google Glass. Recently the device was actually used to live stream an actual surgical procedure.
