nintendo-switchAs we have seen in the case of smartphones, sometimes hardware is only as good as its ecosystem. There’s no point in creating a powerful device but there is a lack of apps that users can use. This logic can be applied to gaming consoles, which is why sometimes console exclusive titles are what draw gamers to a particular platform.

That being said while the Nintendo Switch won’t be launching with many games available for it, not to worry because it seems that there are over 100 titles in the works. This is according to a recent tweet by The Wall Street Journal’s Takashi Mochizuki in which he quotes Nintendo’s chief as saying that there are over 100 titles for the Switch in the works from more than 70 different firms.

Prior to this Nintendo had stated that they had over 80 titles in development for the Switch, so for them to go from 80 to 100 in a short amount of time bodes well of the company. Of course their release dates are all pretty much up in the air at the moment so it is unclear as to when they will be released, but hopefully the gap between releases won’t be too long.

The Nintendo Switch represents a new chance for Nintendo to regain some of their market share that they lost with the Wii U. So far initial impressions of the console appear to be largely positive, and pre-orders also appear to be going rather well, so as long as the console lives up to expectations and there are a bevy of games to choose from, there is no reason why it wouldn’t do well.
