As per Blizzard’s announcement last week, if you’re looking forward to taking Overwatch’s latest hero “Orisa” for a spin, you’ll be pleased to learn that the character is now live and playable in the game. Note that this is applicable across all the platforms that Overwatch is available on, so it’s not as if PC or console players will wait to have.

For those who are unfamiliar with Orisa, she’s the latest hero to be introduced to the game. Many had assumed that Doomfist would be the next hero, but it turns out that many were wrong and that actually Orisa was the surprise announcement. Orisa will be a tank character meaning that her role in the game would be to act as a shield for her allies and to block incoming damage so that the damage dealers can do what they do, and that healers can stay alive.

She also shares similar-ish features to another tank in the game, such as Reinhardt, so if you’re familiar with that character then some of Orisa’s abilities won’t feel quite as foreign to you. That being said, it should be noted that Orisa will only be playable in all modes of the game except for competitive play.

According to a post by Scott Mercer, “Orisa will not initially be available for Competitive Play. We want to give players some time to learn about and play Orisa before she’s placed into the crucible of Competitive Play. She’ll still be immediately available in Quick Play, the Arcade (including custom games with the competitive ruleset), and Play vs. AI.”
