Towards the end of last year, Facebook announced a tool that would help users find free public WiFi. Given that we don’t always know if the location we are at provides WiFi, or if you’re looking for a place that’s confirmed to have WiFi before heading in, this tool will no doubt come in handy.

However at the time of posting, Facebook confirmed that the feature was in testing and only available in select markets, but not anymore as Facebook has since released the tool globally and made it available to everyone. According to Facebook, “Today we’re beginning to roll out Find Wi-Fi everywhere in the world on iPhone and Android. We launched Find Wi-Fi in a handful of countries last year and found it’s not only helpful for people who are traveling or on-the-go, but especially useful in areas where cellular data is scarce.”

“Find Wi-Fi helps you locate available Wi-Fi hot spots nearby that businesses have shared with Facebook from their Page. So wherever you are, you can easily map the closest connections when your data connection is weak.” This tool will be available on both the iOS and Android versions of the Facebook app.

All users have to do is click the “More” tab in Facebook, head to “Find WiFi”, after which they will then be able to locate WiFi hotspots on a map, as well as learn more about the businesses that are hosting them.
