Ben Affleck played Batman in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Warner Bros. has also been developing a separate Batman movie in which our favorite caped crusader will be played by Ben Affleck. Many would expect Affleck to hold on to the Batman role for many years to come but recent reports suggested that he may not be involved in the movie at all. Affleck has now refuted those reports.

It was reported recently that Warner Bros. was planning to gradually phase out Affleck’s Batman and relaunch the franchise with another actor. It made sense as there have been quite a few issues with the upcoming Batman movie.

For the longest time, Affleck was attached to the project as the director as well but the later dropped out in favor of Matt Reeves. He also wrote the script for the movie which Reeves decided to drop in favor of a completely fresh script.

The report speculated that if Reeves’ plan for a new Batman trilogy made sense, Warner Bros. would go for a much younger star to take on the role of Batman. This would mean that Affleck’s run as Batman would be limited to his appearance in Batman v. Superman and Justice League, potentially denying him the chance to star in his separate Batman movie.

Affleck has said that this isn’t happening. He told an audience at Warner Bros. Hall H panel at the San Diego Comic-Con that he’s not going anywhere and that he will be starring in The Batman. Before we see him in that movie, though, we’ll see Affleck play Batman in Justice League which opens in theaters on November 18th, 2017.
