It was reported recently that Google might be preparing a new “Made for Google” certification program for accessory manufacturers. Under the program, it would provide assistance to those manufacturers and they will then be able to brand their devices as Made for Google. The program was not going to be unlike Apple’s MFi accessory certification program. At its event yesterday, the company confirmed that it has launched the Made for Google certification program with 26 manufacturers.

Google launched a handful of new hardware products at its event yesterday. The new Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones are now official, so is the new Pixelbook laptop, and Google Home devices. There are some other products as well such as the Pixel Buds and Google Clips.

So far, 26 accessory manufacturers have signed up for the program. These include some well-known manufacturers such as Anker, Belkin, Incipio, Under Armor, Otterbox, Kate Spade, and others. Google is going to provide them with the support that they need to build accessories like battery packs, cases, and chargers up to Google’s specifications.

They will be allowed to use the Made for Google logo in marketing and promotional materials to highlight that their products have been built to Google’s specifications. More manufacturers will certainly be added to this list down the road.

Made for Google certified products should hit the market over the next few weeks.
