The Last of Us has quickly risen to become one of the more classic titles in modern video game history with its fantastic gameplay and storytelling. This is why anticipation is high for the sequel, dubbed The Last of Us 2 which was officially announced towards the end of 2016. However a release date for the game was not revealed, at least until now.

In a recent interview with Radio Vorterix from Argentina (via RobinGaming), The Last of Us 2’s composer Gustavo Santaolalla seemed to have hinted that the game could be released in 2019. The composer was quoted as saying, “It’ll be done in 2019 (laughs). No, I don’t know exactly when it will come out, but a project like this usually takes at least 2 years to make. I’ve been working on it now for about a year, and after my last concert at the 28th of October, I will be travelling to LA to keep working on the game”.

Note that this is not an official confirmation of the game’s release date, but rather it seems to be speculation on Santaolalla’s part. It is possible that it could actually end up being released in 2019, but we’ll have to wait on Naughty Dog’s confirmation of that. In the meantime the trailer that was launched with the game seems to have revealed the plot of it, or at least that’s based on the deductions by fans.

The Last of Us 2 was not unveiled at E3 this year but hopefully in 2018 we can expect more details, like confirmation of a release date, perhaps?
