9-year-old Mikah Frye’s actions have earned him a lot of praise. He had the Xbox One on his Christmas list but decided to give it up in exchange for purchasing over sixty blankets for the homeless. The blankets that were distributed to the homeless had a personal message from Mikah which said “Today, I live in my own house, and someday you will too. Your friend Mikah.” Word of his selflessness reached Microsoft which planned an amazing surprise for the remarkable boy.

The child knew what it felt like to lose one’s home. His parents fell on hard times a few years ago and the family lost their home. They had to stay at a shelter for several weeks before they could find another place to stay.

Microsoft employees planned a surprise for Mikah at a local mall in his hometown of Beachwood, Ohio. They reached out to Mikah’s grandmother to tell her about the plan. “When they called and told me I was just instantly crying on the phone and I couldn’t believe it,” she said.

When he turned up at the mall, he was greeted by employees of the store and Santa who handed him two bags full of gifts. The gifts included an Xbox One console. Mikah understandably had tears of joy after seeing the gifts.

It was an incredible gesture of selflessness from the young boy and it’s good to see that Microsoft stepped up and rewarded him for it.
