Netflix could have a tough future ahead of them. The company is facing competition from the likes of Hulu, Amazon Video, and in the next couple of years, Disney’s own streaming service as well which is expected to end certain licensing agreements with Netflix and some of the shows in its catalogue.

However for now it seems that Netflix is doing just fine because according to the company’s latest earnings, they have managed to add 8.3 million customers in the previous quarter. The company is boasting that this is the highest quarter in their history, and it is also an 18% increase from the previous year’s record which was 7.05 million.

With the addition 8.3 million customers, Netflix is now claiming that they have over 110 million paying subscribers worldwide, with about half of them (52 million) based in the US alone. Netflix also states that they will continue as planned where they will be investing more money in original content, such as introducing new seasons for the likes of The Punisher and Mindhunter.

Netflix’s CEO Reed Hastings also cheekily mentioned that he will be a subscriber to Disney’s upcoming streaming service, indicating that they don’t seem to be too concerned about the changes.
