Many Instagram users keep their fingers crossed for the chronological feed to return but it doesn’t seem like the Facebook-owned company is going to make that change any time soon. However, it has introduced some new changes today which it says will improve users’ Instagram feed. The new changes are meant to give them more control over their feed and ensure that they see more recent posts.

Instagram has finally listened to complaints from users that they don’t like when the feed refreshes and takes them to the top automatically. I am personally no fan of this behavior as well.

Therefore, Instagram is now testing a “New Posts” button which will let users decide when they want to refresh instead of the app doing it automatically. If the button is tapped it will take the user to the new posts at the top of the feed.

Instagram has also acknowledged feedback that users want to see newer posts in their feeds first so it’s making the relevant tweaks to its algorithm so that newer posts are “more likely” to appear first.

Instagram decided to switch from its reverse chronological feed in June 2016 and this didn’t really go down well with its fanbase. However, it has stuck with its decision and it seems very unlikely now that Instagram will just decide one day to go back to the old way of doing things. The Facebook-owned company is working on more improvements for the feed which it’s going to reveal in the coming months.
