Heads up Nintendo Switch gamers, you might be interested to learn that Nintendo has recently released an update to the console’s firmware. This update will bump the console’s firmware to version 5.0.0 and will introduce a bunch of changes, new features, and improvements that could be worth checking out.

Starting off with what is probably the highlight of the update is a change in the way Switch owners can add friends. For gamers who have linked their social media accounts, like Facebook and Twitter, to their Nintendo Account, they will be able to see other friends on Facebook or Twitter who have a Switch and add them to their friends list.

If you’re looking for a way to add more Switch friends that you did not know own the console, hopefully this will make it easier. In addition to this, the update will also introduce a bunch of user icons from the ARMS and Kirby games. Nintendo has also made it so that digital purchases made on PC or a smart device will start downloading sooner, even when the console is in sleep mode.

There has also been some updates made to the Parental Controls PIN to help make it more private. Entering the PIN has also been changed so that it doesn’t use the screen number pad but instead uses the control stick and buttons. The update is already live so fire up your console to start downloading if you haven’t done so already.
