The early days of YouTube had limitations to the length of videos that users could upload. However this was slowly increased over time where now we are able to watch videos that contain more than an hour of content, thus expanding the ability and type of content that creators can upload.

Instagram on the other hand has kept its video offerings short, but that could change according to a report from The Wall Street Journal. The report claims that Instagram is working to allow its users to upload videos of up to an hour long. Apparently the company has also been working and discussing with content creators and publishers about producing long-form content for the platform.

It is an interesting option if true, although given the way that Instagram is used compared to video platforms like YouTube, it is unclear as to whether or not Instagram might be a good place to watch long form videos. Plus there is also the lack of dedicated video controls, but presumably with long form videos Instagram could include them as well.

In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but what do you guys think? Do you think Instagram is a platform in which you would like to watch long form videos on?
