Plants need sunlight to survive and that’s a fact. This is why sometimes when you can see plants that end up growing in weird directions in order to best reach the areas where there is sunlight. Now the problem with indoor plants is that they don’t always have access to sunlight, but this robot could solve that problem.

Developed by Beijing tech company Vincross, they have created a robot plant pot that comes with built-in legs that will actually allow the plant to “chase” sunlight. This means that in theory you could keep a particular plant in an area of the house where there is no sunlight, but during the day the robotic pot could move itself to an area where there is sunlight, get enough nutrients, and then at night it could return to its original position.

Its legs also means that it can “chase” sunlight, so throughout the day as the sun moves across the sky, the pot could move along with it. In addition to being able to follow the sunlight, the pot also comes with other features, such as being able to detect when the plant needs some water. It sounds like a novel device but unfortunately the robot only exists as a prototype for now.

However the robot is based on the company’s HEXA robot which is available for purchase at $949, which we imagine you could modify it to turn it into a robot plant holder with a little bit of tinkering.
