Zune HD Announced

Guess who’s back….back again? The Zune HD has finally made it to mainstream consciousness after drifting in and out of reality via a bunch of rumors on the Internet. No sir, this isn’t a phone like some of you have hoped for a long time already, so maybe next time? As for the rest of you who are wondering why Microsoft has yet to throw in the towel agains the iPod with their zune brand, well perhaps they hope that the Zune HD could be to the iPod what the Xbox 360 is to the Sony PS3? Details in the full post.

Without further ado, the Zune HD will feature a multitouch OLED widescreen display at 480 x 272 resolution with 16:9 aspect ratio to let you enjoy all your favorite movies on the go. Not only that, you can also output supported HD video files via a premium HDMI audiovisual docking station to a HDTV in 720p, although you will need to pick that accessory up separately. Other notables that place the Zune HD in a prime position to go up against the iPod touch would be its full-screen Internet browser and Wi-Fi connectivity. No idea on pricing just yet though.
