Want a really, really basic MP3 player that does not bear the hallmarks of an iPod? There are other alternatives out there you know, all you need to do is widen your search. The Kana Flash USB flash drive is one of them, holding up to 2GB of internal memory while playing back MP3 and WMA file formats. It will add a mere 10 grams to your pocket whenever you tote it around, and just like the iPod Shuffle, there is no display on this device, leaving you to be familiar with your playlist instead. Out in Japan next month, there is no word on whether the Kana Flash will make its way outside of the Land of the Rising Sun.
