Sony rechargeable batteries

Sony aims to go green with their new set of rechargeable batteries which are of the lithium ion variety. This new set brings together high-power and long-life performance thanks to the use of olivine-type lithium iron phosphate as the cathode material. The batteries will boast a high power density of 1800W/kg alongside an extended life span of approximately 2,000 charge-discharge cycles. To make matters more interesting (while providing potentially serious competition to the Sanyo Eneloop), the battery is able to achieve an 80% charge retention even after those 2,000 charge-discharge cycles, which is impressive to say the least. Capable of hitting a full charge within 30 minutes, we look forward to seeing this new set of Sony rechargeable batteries on store shelves sooner rather than later.
