KIST develops ROTI robot

KIST (Korean Institute of Science and Technology) has managed to come up with a telepresence English teaching aid robot known as ROTI. Two of these robots have already been deployed to elementary schools under a 2-month pilot program in Masan, South Korea, where English teachers will be able to control ROTI remotely while giving lessons through a webcam, all in real time. The robot itself will feature sensors that more or less override the controls should it detect any obstacles. The Korean Ministry of Economy already threw around $339,200 in developing it. Looks like schooling is going to get a whole lot more expensive in the future.
