RealVNC And QNX Collaborate To Bring The BlackBerry Experience To Your Dashboard

BlackBerry fans should be familiar with the name QNX these days as RIM acquired the company that developed the system for the BlackBerry PlayBook. QNX has already been around for a while and is well known in the automotive industry for its infotainment systems. If you bunch the two together, it shouldn’t be too surprising to hear that RealVNC has confirmed its collaboration with QNX to demo its support for Nokia’s Terminal Mode, allowing the output of your BlackBerry to be displayed on your vehicles in-dash display via the standard VNC protocol. Once on the display, drivers will be able to control their BlackBerry via a touchscreen interface or with the steering wheel controls. Terminal Mode is designed to filter out unsafe apps to avoid distracting the driver with unnecessary content and offers a simplified interface to eliminate non-essential controls, not to mention enlarged fonts. Check out a video of it in action after the jump.
