Word is going around that Microsoft’s upcoming Windows 8 operating system could place a stronger focus on gaming. A developer recently noted that gaming was not just an important part, rather a key component for the whole operating system. The software giant has been placing a notable emphasis on gaming in recent years, such as with the Games section in Vista and Windows 7, not to mention the popular Xbox 360 console and Xbox Live. Much of the PC gaming market is currently controlled by Valve Software’s Steam platform, offering easy direct-download game sales. It’s been said that Windows 8 will have some major differences from the current versions of Windows as we know it, and it’ll be interesting to see if gaming will really be a big part of the whole picture when it’s finally released.
