Eye of Sauron

Fans of Lord of the Rings are going to love this new way to use the Kinect. The Technology Studio in UK recently uploaded a video of a giant eyeball that used the Kinect’s motion sensors to detect people walking around it.

The eyeball could accurately follow whoever was detected. The response to the video was great and they decided to do another one after tones of requests for the Eye of Sauron and that’s exactly what they did.

While this is a fun application of the Kinect and not really groundbreaking, you can see the possibilities of how such technology can be used in the future. Hit the break to watch both giant eyeball-Kinect videos:
